Contracts and Agreements

A contract or an agreement is almost always required when you need to pay a business or individual for services. This can include, but is not limited to, lectures, musical performances, tech support, DJ services, set up and tear down of equipment, food preparation and service, design work, or website support. Please be certain to work with Student Involvement well before you enter into any sort of agreement with a vendor for any type of service performed on or off campus. Any service that is provided on campus or as part of any official RISD sponsored event must have an agreement that is signed and executed by an authorized university official.

Students are not able to sign and execute agreements or contracts as representatives of the university, so it is imperative that you communicate with Student Involvement to receive proper guidance on the development of any agreement and ensure they are properly executed by an authorized University signatory. The contracts process is lengthy, so any contracts to be signed by a university official must be given to Student Involvement at least 4 – 6 weeks in advance of your purchase.  It is important to adhere to the timeline outlined above as Accounts Payable requires that the fully executed contract accompany the invoice and will not release payment until both are received.
